Choosing Condoms: Thickness, Texture and Fit

Condoms are the one category where the functional decision matters more than the preference. Here is how to choose, and what the variations actually change.

## The three common variants

- Ultra-thin. Thinner latex or polyisoprene, marketed on sensation. The difference is noticeable to most people, and the Ultra Thin Condoms UAE is a standard 10-pack example.

## Fit matters more than thickness

A condom that is too tight is uncomfortable and more likely to break. One that is too loose can slip. Both are more common than people assume, and both are solved by choosing the correct nominal width rather than a brand you recognise.

Measure the erect girth with a soft tape, then compare against the width listed on the pack. If a brand does not list nominal width, choose one that does.

## Material

- Latex. The default. Reliable and inexpensive. Not suitable for people with a latex allergy.
- Polyisoprene. Similar feel to latex, suitable for latex allergies.
- Polyurethane. Thinner and compatible with oil-based lubricant. Less elastic.

## Storage and use

- Store away from heat, direct sunlight and a wallet you sit on.
- Check the expiry date before use.
- Use one at a time, and never with oil-based lubricant on latex.
